Job Description: Utility Human Resources Manager
Position Overview:
The Utility Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of human resources functions within the energy and utilities sector. This role requires a strong understanding of utility management and the ability to strategically align HR initiatives with the organization's goals and objectives. The Utility HR Manager will provide guidance, support, and expertise in all areas of HR, including recruitment, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the utility organization's overall objectives.
2. Collaborate with senior management to establish workforce plans, ensuring adequate staffing levels and succession planning.
3. Lead and manage the recruitment and selection process, including job postings, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and making final hiring decisions.
4. Create and maintain effective onboarding and orientation programs to ensure smooth integration of new hires into the organization.
5. Develop and implement performance management systems, including goal setting, performance evaluation, and career development plans.
6. Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
7. Manage employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
8. Oversee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive and aligned with industry standards.
9. Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
10. Maintain accurate HR records and prepare reports on HR metrics, such as turnover, hiring, and training costs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree is a plus.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR management, preferably within the energy and utilities industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, policies, and procedures.
4. Strong understanding of utility management and the unique challenges faced within the industry.
5. Proven experience in full-cycle recruitment and selection processes, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
6. Solid understanding of performance management systems and the ability to develop and implement effective programs.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
8. Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
9. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
10. Proficient in HRIS systems and other HR-related software.
11. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
12. Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
